My family loves vacation in Hilton Head, South Carolina which has always been full of rest and relaxation.  So this year,  we discussed visiting Savannah Georgia, and we certainly didn’t want it to be stressful.

We wanted fun, family friendly, self paced and affordable.  This is why we choose Old Savannah Tours in Savannah.   When selecting Old Savannah  Tours, we decided to cruise to Savannah by way of the Vagabond Cruise Spirit of Harbour Town ~Historic Savannah Cruise (read about it) so we could see another side of the Low Country.

Traveling by boat meant also no parking hassles and certainly no parking fees which is always a plus when traveling with children.

In addition, by arriving on the Spirit of Harbor Town Historic Savannah Cruise, we were able to purchase discounted tickets ($21 Adult,  $11 Children) on the Cruise prior to docking.  Non-discounted tickets are $27 Adult, $12 Children.

We docked directly at Market Street where the Trolleys were awaiting our arrival.*

We selected the (unlimited) Historic On/Off Tour.  With the On/Off Trolley, there is the ability to de-board at any of the designated fifteen stops through out the downtown historic area at our leisure, where the trolley stops are conveniently located near points of interest.

You get to see as much of Savannah as you possibly can in one day; then reboard at any of these same designated stops.

Depending on your pace, the length of tour can be from ninety minutes to all day.

The day we visited, the weather was wonderful;  hot with a slight breeze.   The trolleys are equipped for beautiful weather as well as not so wonderful.  It was nice to see that each trolley has the clear side flaps that roll up or down depending, so we were certainly enjoying the fresh open air trolley!

If you are more for the relaxed tour, there is also the Historic Overview Tour.  This fully narrated tour lasts ninety minutes through the Historic District of Savannah.

All trolleys run seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with pick ups running every 15-20 minutes.

We loved being able to sit back and enjoy a few of the historic characters joining our trolley to tell their story, certainly not something you would find on other tours in the area.

In addition, each trolley is fully narrated by the Driver; where tips are acceptable and greatly appreciated.

*If not arriving by way of the Historic Savannah Cruise, then can park,  purchase tickets and catch the trolley at the Savannah Visitors Center.

Despite the southern heat, there was still lots of Southern Hospitality and many wonderful sights and history in Savannah!  We were happy with our choice in riding with Old Savannah Trolley Tours.
