Every summer, my family and I look forward to days poolside, parades and picnics, fireworks, evenings looking at the stars and attending the Ohio State Fair. The Fair is held every late July/ early August for about ten (10) days in Columbus, Ohio. Read about our visit in years past here.
Ever year, we loved to see the comfortable familiar and the pleasantly new attractions. Whether visiting Smokey the Bear in the Department of Natural Resources area, eating ice cream in the Butter Cow located in the Dairy Parlor, watching the horse shows in the Taft Coliseum, or the viewing Creative Arts in the Disalle Center we always love spending the day at the Ohio State Fair.
One of our favorite activity every year is to stop by the Pregnant Cows birthing area. Every year, cows give birth during the state fair. Last year, as my son and I were walking towards the Dairy Parlor for Ice cream when we noticed a cow was in active labor. We decided to forgo the ice cream and watch this once in a lifetime event.
After awhile, it was determined by the veterinarian that he would need to assist with this birth. We watched as he brought the calving chains. He needed to attached these chains to each of the baby cow.

We are certainly looking forward to our annual Ohio State Fair visit again this summer, and who knows maybe watch another birth. Will you be attending a State Fair this year?
