Royal Scoop Ice Cream night ….

When in Southwest Florida, vacationers and locals alike must be sure to check out the Royal Scoop Ice Cream Shop in Bonita Springs.  Conveniently located off of Bonita Beach Rd at the intersection of Vanderbilt Drive and 8th street, it was a short ten minute drive from where we were staying.

Royal Scoop is known for their homemade ice cream and I wish I could say it is the best kept secret but that would be a lie. Anyone who has lived or vacationed in this area has heard about Royal Scoop.   So bring the whole gang… Grandma and Grandpa, cousins, aunts and uncles… and make it a party.

We visited for an early after dinner treat about 6:00 pm during the week and were meet with a long line and sparse seating. Seems everyone else in the area had the same idea. Also be sure to grab the tourist brochures found in the local grocery stores for a 10% off total order coupon.

Today Emma waited on my family as we ordered everything from the strawberry milkshake to the triple scoop chocolate ice cream in a bowl to the double scoop of black raspberry and rocky road in a cone. Let me tell you, no matter the time of day, this place is busy!  Once our order was placed, there were numerous teenagers busy making our treats. Patience is needed at peak time, as it took about five to seven minutes after we placed our order to get our ice cream, but it was well worth the wait.

The ice cream shop is located in what appears to be a little strip mall so seating is limited, but on this occasion, my kiddo and I found the resting cow for a great resting place to slurp and lick our ice cream.

We found a great spot to eat our ice cream at Royal Scoop.

The average cost for a one scoop cone is about $3 and goes up from there. We had five adults and one child in our party with a 10% off coupon and spent $27. At this cost, it may not be ideal to eat everyday but when vacationing or that special occasion, homemade ice cream where the locals go is a must.

Be sure to check out their website for additional menus options and to learn about their catering services as well.

Then we did what any good vacationer does that just had an ice cream treat … headed for the miniature golf course for a round of golf.
