Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Sharon the Moments Blog

Visiting Disney World in Orlando Florida has always been on my list of vacation destinations.  I visited when I was in high school and loved how Disney has marketed the theme of Magic perfectly.

Who doesn’t love watching all flowers bloom every day never to die, or snow falling in seventy degree weather on Christmas eve … or our favorite animated Disney characters coming to life to hug us and pose for photos with us?

I know I do and so does my family.

Toss is a little reality and BAM you have a perfect Disney vacation …. sort of.

If you have never been to Florida, you should know it is humid 365 days a year; there is no such thing as a good hair day in Florida.

And when walking through concrete jungles, it is like walking through a steam house for twelve hours.

But a very magical steam house nonetheless.

Now Disney does do a great job of providing numerous air-conditioned rides, restaurants and gift shops and the ever fun water rides too for cooling off but you will still be doing a lot of walking and convincing your children this is FUN!

Understanding our children’s limits will certainly make the Disney Vacation was much fun and magical as well.

Knowing when to take a break and when to eat and even when to call it a day will go a long way for pleasurable memories!  Trust me, we took lots of breaks … to eat, to use the bathroom, to cool off and to rest our tired feet.

We started our day early hoping for the cooler weather in the morning.  We begin our visit by walking the Swiss Robinson Family tree house.  We decided to continue our journey counter-clockwise so next we visited Splash Mountain.  Being that is was earlier enough, we didn’t need to utilize the fast pass, we simple got in line and were on the ride ten-minutes later.

It is unusually hot in October for us and so we needed to take many indoor breaks to keep our cool.  At times, we were overwhelmed with all the things we wanted to see and do, but soon realized we couldn’t see and do everything in one day and decided to focus on our favorites … having fun and enjoying the moment !

Even this guy knows about relaxing …

So we headed back to ride the Tomorrowland Speedway race course for the forty-sixth time.

Being that this vacation was just the two of us, we quickly learned there was going to be rides each one of us didn’t want to ride and some rides we did.

We seemed to gravitate to the more slow and relaxing rides than the more thrill seeking roller coasters.   And even this time of year, lines do seems to fill up quickly, so when possible, we did use the fast passes for the more popular rides  …

One thrill ride I did want to experience was  Space Mountain, but my kiddo choose to opt out.  (He did inform me that I was to take pictures so he could decide if he wanted to ride).

I was able to ride Space Mountain as my kiddo waited for me when I exited the car and this is the one and only picture I took during the ride … what was I thinking?

(In my own mind …. when did I become too old for this ride?)

Somehow this isn’t exactly how I remembered the ride when I was in high school ….

Following Space Mountain, we rode a few more mild rides and then decided to call it a day …  tomorrow is EPCOT!
