As with everything, all good things must come to an end. And the year two-thousand twelve is no different. It is amazing the reality that time flies and in this case a year, a whole three-hundred sixty-six days {leap year} has come to a close.
It was a good year for me and my kiddo, with many blessings to be thankful and moments to file in our forever memory bank to cherish always.
The start of the new year began as a lamb, with very mild weather and warmer temperatures. We relished in the calmer Midwest winter and made our way to our local Metro Parks often. We liked to take some mini hikes, and walk one of our favorite trails.
We often danced as if no one was watching.
We stayed busy during the more mild winter months. We enjoyed getting out and trying some new trails and kiddo even played on a youth basketball team. Seems we did lots of traveling.
In addition to our frequent traveling, we did manage to stop in our favorite neighbor place for a bite to eat and a warm cup of hot chocolate at Panera Bread. As spring arrived it gave perfect timing to look for leprechauns and have a little time for some well …. singing in the rain, we were just signing in the rain.
For the most part though, we stayed healthy and well. But the bug did catch up with my kiddo early Spring.
The spring months also brought a lot of sunny days and soccer games. Being a soccer mom is way better when the sun is shining and there is no rain in the forecast. I will also say that one of my kiddo’s favorite position is playing goalie … and while he is a very good goalie, it can be a very slow action position as times. But I am a very proud mom nonetheless!
As it goes, Mother’s Day was here and we were hoping the weather would play nice and let the sun come out. But no such luck. We were not about to give in to mother nature and so we opted to walk in the rain {see above as we already sang in the rain, and danced as no one was watching}. Isn’t that why rain coats were invented anyway?
We decided to stay fairly close to home and traveled to Fairfield County to the Rising Park Overlook. And despite the rain… we had seen for miles and miles.
In addition to Mothers day, my kiddo and I love the month of May because we also both get to celebrate the our birth days. Happy Birthday to us.
Seems the year is gaining speed and since it rained on us for Mother’s day, we thought we would try again for Old Man’s Cave. And as luck would have it, it rained. Good for us we invested in rain coats …
Although I will say, rain or shine the caves are stunning and older than the hills and are alive with the sound of music. {okay, just kidding on the last one but they are beautiful!}
Twenty twelve also brought on the heat and we decided this was a great year to purchase a pool pass. We soaked in the sun, relaxed reading some good books {book list coming soon}, splashed in the water and basically were so excited we practically did flips.
As summer came to a close, my kiddo was headed back to school and the Ohio State Buckeyes football season was just beginning. And as anyone that lives in the midwest will tell you, following the summer season is buckeye football season. And well … me and my kiddo made it to the home opener in the Shoe. {GO BUCKS!}
In addition to our regular Columbus Zoo visits, we also made our way to a local pumpkin patch this past fall to pick some pumpkins and to Lynd Fruit Farm for some apple picking (and apple eating).
We had a blast, no really, we did!
Before we knew, Autumn had come and gone and we {okay, my kiddo} was making his list, checking it twice and counting the days until Christmas. His elf came to visit right after Thanksgiving and keep us busy with her silly antics.
We were able to get in the yearly chat with Santa {got to be sure he made the good list}, and even a North Pole Party with good friends. Then in the blink of an eye, it was Christmas morning and Santa had stopped by.
And just a few short days later, we were ready to ring in the new year. We were forced to say good-bye to twenty twelve and say hello to twenty thirteen whether we wanted to or not.
I have no hard feeling for the old year and am looking towards all the new will bring. I will embrace the change that comes with life and I will always look forward and promise to not look back.
I also want to thank each of you for stopping by my little spot in the blogosphere; please leave a note and share a little about you. I look forward to meeting my fans.
I resolve the past and challenge the future! Do you?
Gentle and inspiring . Thanks, Mindy K
