During one of our visits to Cedar Point in Erie County; along the shores of Lake Erie, we came across the Ohio Historical Marker for the Ohio Hospital Association. On August 25th, 1915, about sixty (60) leaders of Ohio Hospitals gathered at the Hotel (Breakers) along the shores of Lake Erie to form the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA). This was the nations first association for state hospitals.
To address state legislation regarding hospitals and public health, the OHA was formed. Some of the issued addressed included the Nurse Practice Act and the federal Harrison Narcotics tax Act. Now over a century later, the OHA represents 220 hospitals and thirteen health systems with a mission to collaborate and ensure a healthy Ohio. Who would have thought that these leaders would meet at one of the worlds greatest roller coaster park?
